Well, we've just finished up our first unit of the course. This unit was entitled "Getting Started" and it was all about the importance of fitness and how to be safe doing it. We discussed the warm-up and cool-down before and after engaging in activity. We discussed the prevention of injury, building self-confidence, health and wellness benefits, and how to reduce risk factors of sedentary living. I demonstrated many different stretching activities; we practiced some health- and skill-related fitness stunts; we played ultimate Frisbee; and did a back circuit for strengthening the back.
I am thrilled with the students I have in my class and think they are all just fabulous!
Your child should have turned in two assignments at this point from chapters 1 and 2 (unless discussed with me). Chapter 3 assignment will be due two weeks from today.
Your child should also be working on their physical activity journal. They need to engage in 2 hours of physical activity outside of the classroom per week and writing about it in their journal. Your signature is required for them to get credit for that journal entry.
Fall break is this next week, so I hope you all have a fabulous time. Email me with any questions, learl@harmonyed.com. Thanks!
